Pricing & quotes

How much does a ducted air conditioning system cost?

Pricing varies considerably based on the size of your home, the number of zones, roof access, the brand and model of equipment chosen, and any specific complexities of your property. Rather than quoting a misleading “from” price that may not apply to your situation, we provide a free on-site survey and a detailed written quote tailored to your home, so the figure you see is the figure that holds.

Our installations are designed for quality and longevity, with equipment sized correctly for your home and installed to last. We are happy to talk through options at different price points so the system fits both your home and your budget, and we are always glad to explain what is included in a quote and why.

How much does a split system cost?

Split system pricing depends on the size and brand of the unit, wall access, refrigerant pipe runs, electrical considerations, and the number of indoor heads if you are going multi-head. Because every install is different, we quote on a per-job basis after a free on-site survey.

Call us or use the contact form to book a survey. There is no obligation, and you will have a written quote in your hands shortly afterwards.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. Every quote is free and comes with no obligation. We visit the property, carry out a proper survey, and provide a written quote with options suited to your situation and budget.

Do you offer finance or payment plans?

At this stage we do not offer in-house finance or payment plans. Payment is typically a deposit on acceptance of the quote, with the balance payable on completion.

Choosing a system

What is the difference between ducted and split systems, and which one is right for me?

Split systems are individual air conditioners: one outdoor unit connected to one or a few indoor head units mounted on a wall. They are ideal when you want to cool specific rooms, or in houses where running ducts is not practical. Installation is quicker and the upfront cost is lower, but the indoor units are visible in the room.

Ducted systems are a whole-home solution. A central unit in the ceiling or roof cavity feeds conditioned air through ducts to discreet ceiling vents in each room, controlled by a single thermostat, usually with zoning so you only cool the rooms you are using. The equipment is hidden, it looks clean, and it handles a whole house far more quietly than multiple splits would.

Ducted systems are not just for new builds. A large proportion of our ducted installations go into existing homes that are not being renovated. If you have assumed a ducted system is out of the question for your house, it is worth having us take a look. We will give you honest advice on which system best fits your home and how you actually live in it.

What brands do you recommend for North Shore homes?

Daikin is the brand we recommend most often, and for good reason. We have been installing Daikin in Sydney homes for decades, the equipment is reliable, and as a Daikin Specialist Dealer, multi-year Super Dealer, and recipient of Daikin's Lifetime Sales Award, we have a direct line to Daikin when it counts.

For budget-conscious installs we offer TCL and Rinnai, both strong performers at a lower price point. That said, we can install any major brand. If you have already chosen a brand, or you are replacing an existing system and want to stay with what you know, we will quote it and install it to the same standard.

What is the most energy-efficient option?

Modern inverter-driven systems are far more efficient than older fixed-speed units. They ramp up and down smoothly rather than cycling on and off at full power, which saves a significant amount of energy over time.

For whole-home efficiency, a correctly sized ducted inverter with proper zoning, so you are only cooling the rooms you are using, is usually the most efficient solution. Star ratings are a useful guide, but correct sizing matters more. An oversized “high efficiency” unit will run less efficiently than one sized properly for your home. This is one of the reasons we always carry out an on-site survey before quoting.

Can you retrofit a ducted system into an existing house?

Yes, in most cases. The main requirements are adequate ceiling or roof-cavity space to run the ducts, and a suitable location for the indoor and outdoor units. We carry out an on-site survey before quoting to confirm it is practical.

On the rare occasion we come across a home where a retrofit does not make sense, usually due to very restricted roof space, we will tell you honestly rather than force a compromise. In those cases, a well-planned multi-head split system is often a great alternative.

Installation

How long does a typical installation take?

Most split system installations are completed in a single day. Ducted systems typically take one to two days, with very few jobs running longer than that. You will be given a specific timeframe as part of your quote, and we confirm start and finish times in advance so you know exactly what to expect.

How far in advance should I book an installation?

In peak season, roughly October to February, lead times for new installations stretch to three to four weeks. Off-peak, in autumn and winter, we can usually get you scheduled within one to two weeks. Installations are commenced in the order in which deposits are received.

We make every effort to complete the installation within three to four weeks of receiving the deposit, and we give you an expected date when you confirm. Occasionally bad weather causes short delays. On the other hand, earlier slots sometimes open up, and if that happens we will contact you to offer an earlier start.

If you know you will need a system for next summer, the ideal time to quote and book is late winter or early spring. You will have the pick of the calendar and you will not be waiting through December for your install.

Can you install air conditioning in apartments or strata buildings?

Yes, we install in strata buildings regularly. Every building has its own rules, so you will typically need body corporate approval first, particularly for placement of the outdoor unit. We are happy to provide the technical specifications, drawings, and noise data that strata committees usually request as part of the approval process.

Do you work with builders on new homes or major renovations?

Yes, regularly. If you or your builder are planning a new home or a significant renovation, it is worth bringing us in early, ideally at the design stage. Getting the unit sizing, zoning, duct runs, and vent placement right from the start produces a much better result than trying to fix them later.

On a live build, first-fix ductwork is usually installed at frame stage, with second-fix units, grilles and commissioning completed closer to handover. We coordinate directly with your builder on timing.

Servicing & warranty

How long should an air conditioner last?

With regular servicing, a quality system should last well over a decade comfortably. Well-maintained premium brands tend to outlast cheaper alternatives, often by a noticeable margin. We regularly service systems installed in the 2000s, and occasionally older ones.

The single biggest factor in lifespan is servicing. Systems that are checked annually and have filters cleaned regularly last considerably longer than those that are not looked at until something breaks.

How often should my system be serviced?

Once a year is the standard recommendation for residential systems. We suggest booking service before the peak season. Late winter or early spring is ideal, because you avoid the rush and your system is ready to perform when you need it most.

Commercial systems and units that run heavily year-round benefit from twice-yearly servicing. For all systems, rinsing the filters yourself every two to three months is something homeowners can do. It noticeably improves performance and reduces the chance of water leakage.

What is included in a standard service?

A standard service involves clearing build-up from both the condenser and evaporator coils, flushing the condensate line to prevent blockages, cleaning the filters, and testing the operation of the unit end to end so we know everything is working to its full potential. We will let you know if anything is out of the ordinary, and we will not recommend repairs or replacements that are not actually warranted.

Do you handle warranty claims for the brands you install?

Yes. As a Daikin Specialist Dealer, we have direct relationships with the manufacturers we install. If something goes wrong under warranty, you call us. We handle the claim, the paperwork, and the repair, so you do not spend your afternoon chasing a manufacturer's hotline.

Do you service systems you didn't install?

Yes. We service and repair most major brands of air conditioning, whether or not we installed them originally. If we come across a fault that is best handled by the original installer or under a specific manufacturer arrangement, we will tell you.

What happens if there is an issue after installation?

If anything ever goes wrong, you call us. For as long as Baramenco is in business, any issue or fault arising from our own installation work is ours to rectify. The equipment itself carries the manufacturer's warranty, which we administer directly so you do not have to deal with the manufacturer yourself.
